Au Pairs are foreigners (mostly students) between the age of 18 and 28, who want to deepen the knowledge of German that they have acquired abroad by staying in Austria, and would like to get to know the Austrian culture and way of life. In contrast to other countries, au pairs in Austria are treated like mother's / home help regarding working hours, minimum wages, tax and social insurance etc. If not indicated differently, all quotes (like the one above) are taken from help.gv.at. As most other information sources about au pairs in Austria are only available in German, it's not possible to quote from them in English, therefore also the English version on connectAupair is much shorter than the German one. |
