the basic idea behind au pairing is to get to know the culture of the host country and also learn the language of the host country - therefore au pairs should talk to the kids of the host family in the language of the host country. Nevertheless, there are for sure families who are very happy if you can help their kids to improve their English - and in that case being a certified ESL teacher is for sure a plus!
